Summer - 1996

The lazy hot days of summer,
school is out
the sun is shining down.
Lemonade smiles and
watermelon dreams.
Swimming and lying in the sun.
These are the days of summer.
No school books to open,
no teacher complaints about missing homework.
No do this and hand in that.
Friends and volleyball,
hanging out by the water
bare feet in the sand.
Feet dangling over the docks,
hikes up the falls.
Summer days are in full swing.
Nights looking up at the stars and making wishes,
talking of dreams for the future
plans for the next day.
Lazy summer days here now, will
be gone tomorrow and
replaced by bells, drills,
math, teachers,
and the halls of the school.
Summer days soon to come to an end
replaced by the mild days of fall
the chill of winter and the newness of spring.
Until once again we
see the lazy hot days of summer.
