Winter

Alas, there is beauty in the winter
scene of snow and ice.
A splendid portrait of
crystallized water turned to ice and
gleaming from the rooftops and trees.
The cold that has replaced the warmth of the sun,
has its beauty in the warm glow of lights
seen from the homes and those
who reside within.
The smiles on the faces
of the children who play with glee
and who intice their parents with
ideas of snowman and snow angels.
Snowball fights fill the air
with delights of glee
as little ones run from
potentially flying snow.
Angels made by those who care
to lie on the cold of the snow covered ground
and share in the memories made
for all to recall.
The winter night when
all is calm and the silence instills
a sense of calm and settled
peace,
the perfect time
to snuggle up next to you
as we sit beside the fire sipping
hot coca and reminiscing about the day.
The warmth of home and hearth
replaced by the cold of the day
and the fun in the snow.
As the day draws to end
on this
beautifully cold and ice filled
winter wonderland,
happiness fills my heart
as I look into your face and
see the smile on your lips
knowing that tomorrow
we can do it all again.

Dedicated to my Uncle Jim....a wintertime foe, who longs for the warmth of summer days and the
saying goodbye to the beauty and cold of the wintertime wonderland

She Waits

What she knows,
she keeps inside.
A place where only she and
God know.
The love she feels, she keeps held back,
for the moment is not
now nor the time time to tell.
She knows the answer to the question he asks,
why it will never work with anyone
else,
because old wounds have
failed to heal.
Wounds that need to be brought to
God and let out,
not held in.
Love can't grow in a place
where darkness has a hold.
Love can heal if God is allowed to
to do His thing.
So she waits, and she keeps to herself
what can't be said.
As she prays for these
wounds to heal,
she knows what she must do.
Time and distance are what they need
in order to build a
relationship with a foundation
strong enough to hold.
A foundation that
is built on
God's love and His word.
A foundation that
can and will
stand the test of time and
be the solid ground
that he already is
to her.
The solid ground that
they both desperately need.
So she brings it to God,
the one who gave him to her.
The one that brought them together,
and holds their shaky relationship together.
So she waits,
a patience she has never before had.
So she prays,
in a way she never has before.
So she sits,
something she before has never been able to do.
So she loves
the man
who can never be hers until
he lets go, forgives
and moves on.
Until he has forgiven the one
who hurt him
and caused him to distance himself
from those that love him.
In God's time and
according to His plan,
so she waits.

The burger

He heard the Bell signaling the arrival
the smile, the anticipation,
the all knowing genuine delight and desire.
The aroma, the anticipation of that
first delectable, flavorful
delicious
mouth watering,
bite.
His eyes alight with the
sound of that bell,
knowing that any minute
she will arrive,
with his plate of yummy
awesomeness.
As she watches from
across the table,
the awkwardness that was
there just moments before,
gone with the sound
of the bell.
Forgotten with the smell of the
food about to be brought.
She waits to see the drool
fall from his mouth,
with eyes that
light up
as the plate draws near.
A look
every woman, near and far,
wishes
would be given her way,
but a look that no mere
woman could
ever intercept
as the plate hits the table and
his eyes full of pure
unadulterated joy
as the mouthwatering
burger is bitten
into.
And then another
and another,
until sadly it is gone.
The tear she expects to fall
from his now saddened face,
breaks her hear
until,
that moment,
she offers him,
the only thing she can offer him.
A small token,
of the friendship they share.
She gives him,
half
of her burger
that she can no longer eat.
A burger that is truly
the world's best,
and now he gets
a small part of hers,
and that joy,
returns to his face.
A smile
that can only warm the
heart.
Even if,
for a burger eaten
in a brewry.

Another with no title...

In a moment
things can change.
Tomorrow
may never come
for those who anticpate its arrival.
We only have
this moment
to let those in that we
keep pushing away.
We only have now
to ensure those we love
know they are loved.
In a moment
your lives can be forever
changed and
the chance to
tell someone how you feel
will be gone.
Stolen by the drunken driver
or a bullet meant for someone else.
Illness can take that moment
you had and remove it
forever.
What keeps you hidden?
What keeps you
locked away?
Do you hide from your self?
From those you love?
If tomorrow never comes
do the ones who matter
know?
Does he know that he is
your everything?
Does she know that your life
has no meaning without her
in it?
Our lives are not guaranteed a tomorrow!
We are not promised the chance
to do it all again.
We have this one moment,
this one chance
and this one God given
moment,
to let them know,
Don't keep it locked inside
out of fear that
they won't love you
back.
Don't keep yourself locked away
because of past mistakes.
The past is gone,
the future is now,
the present is here.
Right the wrongs, and heal the hurt,
forgive and forget,
tomorrow may not come,
but today is waiting to be finished.
